As part of a larger engagement effort, employees can receive email or sms notifications from Recognize. Users may receive these notifications when they receive a Recognition, when someone comments on a Recognition that was sent to them, or when another user comments on a Recognition that they commented on. Company Admins and Managers can also be notified when direct reports receive Recognitions. Additionally, reminders to Managers to recognize direct reports, as well as reminders to all employees to redeem points can be sent out from the system.
As a Company Admin, you can control these notifications at the organizational level within the Menu > Company Admin Portal > Settings section. Global notification settings will be the default for any new users added to the system, upon which point users can go in to their profile to manage their notification preferences at the individual level.
NOTE: We recommend setting global defaults for notifications before launch because any changes to these global settings will override current user preferences.

Platform Activity Summary Settings
To provide visibility for platform engagement, Recognize offers three summaries that can be sent out from the platform: a daily recognition summary that can go to all users, a summary of direct report activity that can be sent to managers, and a manager activity summary that can be sent to Company Admins. Company Admins can control the settings for these summary in the Company Admin Portal.
Daily Recognition Summary Setting
- Select 'Menu' in the top right-hand corner of the screen
- Select 'Company Admin' from the drop-down menu
- Select 'Settings' from the navigation panel on the left side
- Under the 'General' section, you will find the global setting for the 'Daily Updates' email that all users receive
Engagement Email Settings for Admins and Managers
- Select 'Menu' in the top right-hand corner of the screen
- Select 'Company Admin' from the drop-down menu
- Select 'Settings' from the left side menu
- Select 'User settings' from the right side navigation pane
- Under the 'User settings' section, you will find global setting options to turn engagement emails on/off for the corresponding 'Admin email about managers' which goes to all Company Admins, and 'Manager email about direct reports', which goes to all managers
Recognition Notification Settings
The following settings all pertain to who is notified when someone is recognized and what channel that notification comes through.
SMS Notifications for Recognition Received
- Select 'Menu' in the top right-hand corner of the screen
- Select 'Company Admin' from the drop-down menu
- Select 'Settings' from the left side menu
- Select 'Recognitions' from the right side navigation pane
- Under the 'Recognition' section, you'll find the global setting for 'Allow SMS notifications for recognitions', which allows users to receive text notifications when they are recognized
NOTE: Phone numbers for users must be entered into the Recognize system for this feature to work.
Manager Notification Default Settings
- Select 'Menu' in the top right-hand corner of the screen
- Select 'Company Admin' from the drop-down menu
- Select 'Settings' from the left side menu
- Select 'Manager settings' from the right side navigation pane
- Under the 'Manager Settings' section, you'll find the global default settings for managers' corresponding notifications: 'Direct report peer recognition notification,' 'Direct report anniversary notification,' and 'Direct report birthday notification'
- You will also see a set of controls for 'Global direct report recognition reminder notifications' which can be used to engage your managers and tip them off when someone on their team hasn't been recognized in a while - note that there are options for applying settings to all users and options for applying the settings to only new users who are added to the platform after making changes. Rewards Notification Settings
By default, all users receive redemption notifications for their own redemptions, and Company Admins receive redemption notifications for the entire organization. Additionally, Rewards Managers receive redemption notifications for any Rewards they are responsible for fulfilling. These notifications are not currently controlled by settings in the Company Admin portal. The following settings pertaining to notifications received for Reward redemptions and approvals, however, can be adjusted by a Company Admin.

- Select 'Company Admin' from the drop-down menu
- Select 'Settings' from the left side menu
- Select 'Rewards' from the right side navigation pane
- Under the 'Rewards' section, you'll find the global default setting for allowing SMS notifications for redemptions
