In a recent Gallup workplace survey, employees were asked to recall who gave them their most meaningful and memorable recognition. The data revealed the most memorable recognition comes most often from:
- an employee's manager (28%)
- a high-level leader or CEO (24%)
- the manager's manager (12%)
- a customer (10%)
- peers (9%)
We encourage leadership to engage in Recognition, but understand that a leader's schedule may not always allow time to be fully immersed in the tool. With this in mind, Recognize offers a 'Delegate' feature that allows authorized users to send Recognitions on behalf of others. This is especially useful for executives who would like their assistants to send Recognitions for them. The Recognitions still appear to be coming from the executive, so as not to lose the personal touch of receiving a Recognition from leadership.
Delegates are assigned by a Company Admin using Roles in the Admin Portal. First, you must create a role for your delegate(s) within the roles tab. Then, you must assign this role to the Delegate. Lastly, you must assign the role of that Delegate to the user for which they will be sending recognition
Creating & Assigning a Role for the Delegate
The first thing you'll want to do is create a Role for the Delegate. Then, you'll assign that Role to the Delegate in the 'Users' tab of the Company Admin portal.
Creating Roles
- Select 'Menu' in the top right corner of your screen
- Select 'Company Admin' from the drop-down menu
- Select 'Roles' on the left-side menu
- Type in a name for your Role(s) in the text box beneath 'Custom Roles'

Click the 'Create Role' button at the top of the page and create the Roles you wish to assign
Assigning Roles
- Once your Role(s) have been created, select 'Users' from the far left menu

Select 'Manage' from the top right tertiary menu
- Click the three lines at the top left of the user table to expand options
- Select 'Company Roles' (not to be confused with system roles) - A column for 'Company Roles' will then appear in the user table
- Within the 'Company Roles' column in the user table, enter the Role you wish to designate to each person
Assign the Delegate to the User
The last step in the process is to assign the Role to the user on whose behalf they will be sending recognition.
- From the 'Users' tab, under 'Manage', click the three lines at the top left of the user table to expand options
- Ensure the field for 'Who can send recognition as this person' is highlighted so that it shows up in the table
- Next to the User's account who will be assigned a Delegate, within the column labeled 'Who can send recognition as this person', select the Role that can send on behalf of this User
