Transitioning Your Recognition Program from Workplace by Meta to Microsoft Teams, Viva Engage, and SharePoint – Recognize

📢 Workplace by Meta is shutting down. Starting September 1, 2025, you won’t be able to post new content, and by May 31, 2026, the platform will be fully retired.

Many organizations are transitioning their employee recognition programs to Microsoft Teams, Viva Engage, and SharePoint—and with Recognize, you can seamlessly bring your recognition program into all three. Each platform offers unique advantages, and using them together helps keep recognition front and center across the tools your teams already use.

💬 Microsoft Teams: Recognize Where Daily Work Happens

Microsoft Teams is the daily communication hub for many organizations, and it’s a natural home for recognition. By integrating Recognize with Teams, employees can send and receive recognition in real time—without leaving their flow of work.

Key Integration Options:

Personal Tab: Adds a dedicated Recognize app for full access to recognitions, rewards, and personal stats.
Channel Tab: Embeds a live recognition feed filtered for a specific team or group.
Power Automate Workflows: Automatically post recognitions into Teams channels based on your rules or filters.

This integration ensures recognition is visible, immediate, and aligned with the way your teams already collaborate.

🎉 Viva Engage: Celebrate and Amplify Across the Organization

Viva Engage (formerly Yammer) is a powerful tool for social visibility and organization-wide culture building. Recognize’s deep integration with Viva Engage lets you showcase recognitions publicly and at scale.

With Impersonation Authentication, Recognize can automatically post recognitions on behalf of users, including peer-to-peer, birthday, and anniversary recognitions. You can:

Select a default Viva Engage community for recognitions
Allow users to choose where their recognition posts
Enable private Viva messages to managers when their direct reports are recognized

Best Practices:

Create a Viva Engage community like “Recognitions & Shoutouts 🎉”
Add a link to Recognize in the community description
Pin a post with a call-to-action to send recognition

🌐 SharePoint: Central Access Point for Recognition Resources

SharePoint is ideal for housing recognition resources in one easy-to-access location—especially for HR, operations, or people teams.

You can:

Embed Recognize directly in SharePoint via web part or iFrame
Link to the Recognize platform from your intranet or employee portal
Use Office 365 SSO for seamless authentication

This setup allows employees to learn about the program, send recognitions, and redeem rewards from one central hub.

Recommended Approach: Use All Three Platforms Together

Rather than choosing between Teams, Viva Engage, and SharePoint, we recommend using all three:

Teams for recognition in the daily flow of communication.
Viva Engage for broad social visibility and celebrating culture.
SharePoint for centralized access to resources, policies, and tools.

Each platform plays a unique role and together creates a robust, connected recognition experience.

Tips to Promote Recognition Across All Platforms

In Teams:
- Globally deploy the Recognize app to all employees Teams app bar
- Add a Recognize tab to key channels
- Set up Power Automate workflows to post recognitions automatically
In Viva Engage:
- Create a dedicated recognition community
- Pin a post with your Recognize link
- Add a hyperlink in the community description
In SharePoint:
