When you need to recognize a large group of employees at the same time, Recognize's Bulk Recognition feature can save you from creating each Recognition individually. It is a useful option for company-wide appreciation, department spotlights, shared achievements, campaign participation, and other moments when many employees should receive Recognition on the same schedule.
The Enterprise package includes four Bulk Recognitions per year. Bulk Recognitions are also available as an add-on for Startup and Mid-Market packages.
β οΈ Important: If your Bulk Recognition includes points, confirm that your Rewards funding account can support potential redemptions before submitting your request. To add funds, contact accounting@recognizeapp.com.

π― When to Use Bulk Recognition
Bulk Recognition works best when a clearly defined group of employees is being recognized for the same shared moment, contribution, or program.
Bulk Recognition may be a good fit when:
- You need to recognize a large number of employees.
- Recipients are being recognized are not already grouped together in a Team in Recognize.
- Recipients are being recognized for the same event, achievement, or type of participation.
- You want all Recognitions to be sent on a coordinated date and time.
- You want to control the badge, points, visibility, and recipient notifications centrally.
- You need to recognize missed Anniversary or Birthday Recognitions.
- You need to add retroactive Recognitions or correct missing Recognition or points data after an import or migration.
A standard or Team Recognition may be better when:
- The recipient list is small.
- Each employee's contribution is substantially different.
- The recipient group being recognized is already grouped as a Team in Recognize.
π Retroactive Recognition Note: A Bulk Recognition can acknowledge a past event or missed recognition moment, but it will display the date it is processed. It will not show a past Recognition date.
β Before You Start
Gather the following details before completing the template:
- Badge: Choose an existing badge or create a new badge for the occasion.
- Sender: Select the active Recognize user who should appear as the sender. Confirm that this person has permission to send the selected badge. For missed Anniversary or Birthday Recognitions, use app@recognizeapp.com. Multiple senders can be listed in one spreadsheet.
- Recipients: Confirm that every recipient is an existing Recognize user and that their email address or phone number matches the information in Recognize.
- Message: Draft a clear message that explains what employees are being recognized for and why their contribution mattered.
- Points: Decide whether the Recognition will include points and confirm that sufficient Rewards funding is available.
- Visibility: Decide whether the Recognitions should be public or private.
- Notifications: Decide whether recipients should receive an email notification.
- Timing: Choose the desired send date, time, and time zone. Allow 1 to 3 business days for processing.
π Using a restricted badge? If only Managers, Company Admins, or another group should be able to send the badge, assign the appropriate Company Role to the badge. Learn more about Company Roles and badge privileges.
π£ Stream Page Tip: When a Bulk Recognition is sent publicly, every Recognition posts individually on the Stream Page. For large recipient lists, consider sending the Recognitions privately so the campaign does not fill the Stream or overshadow peer-to-peer Recognition.

π Planning Tip: If a recognition occasion falls on a weekend or company holiday, schedule the Bulk Recognition for the closest appropriate business day.
π Best Practices for Stronger Engagement
- Be specific about the reason. Even when many people receive the same Recognition, explain what they did and why it mattered.
- Personalize where practical. The template allows you to create a different message for each row. A short personal detail can make a large campaign feel intentional.
- Protect inclusion. Review the recipient list with the program owner or relevant managers so eligible employees are not accidentally left out.
- Use public and private visibility intentionally. Public Bulk Recognitions post individually on the Stream Page. For large recipient lists, consider sending privately to avoid filling the Stream and overshadowing peer-to-peer Recognitions.
- Plan points with purpose. Decide whether points strengthen the occasion and confirm your available Rewards funding before submitting the request.
- Coordinate the surrounding communication. Pair the Recognition with a leader message, team meeting, internal post, event, or manager follow-up so recipients understand the broader meaning.
- Avoid overusing bulk campaigns. Bulk Recognition is most meaningful when it marks a clear shared contribution. Continue encouraging timely peer and manager Recognition between larger campaigns.
- Submit early. Allow at least 1 to 3 business days, and confirm timing with Support when a Recognition must be sent at a specific date and time.
β¨ Key Takeaway: Bulk Recognition is most effective when it makes a shared contribution visible without replacing timely, specific peer-to-peer and manager Recognition.
