Leveraging the Recognition Engagement Score (RES) in Recognize
The Recognition Engagement Score, or RES for short, is a metric the Recognize team uses to show the inclusion and active participation of employees with the recognition programs at your organization. There are two scores to be exact - the number of unique recipients of recognitions (Recipient RES) in a given time period over the number of total active employees in that group as well as the number of unique senders of recognitions (Sender RES) in a given time period over the number of total active employees in that group. By 'unique' we mean those who have sent or received at least one recognition. Both of these scores are important in terms of measuring the success of your programs. Sender RES is indicative of engagement with your programs, and Recipient RES is indicative of your programs' reach. You can find RES scores for the entire company within the Company Admin Dashboard, with options to filter by Badge, Team, or Role.
- Click 'Menu' in the upper right corner of the page
- Select 'Company Admin' from the dropdown menu
- The page will then default to your Company Admin Dashboard
- Click the tab for 'RES' in the upper right-hand menu
- Filter by Badge, Team, or Role at the top of the page
-
Yearly RES By recipients - this score tells you about the reach of your program(s) over the course of a rolling calendar year. This is a great indicator for reporting on inclusion in recognition.
- Best practice suggests this number is between 80-100% by the end of the calendar year if you have peer-to-peer recognition programs. According to Gallup, employees desire to be recognized in some way at least once every 7 days, so long as it is meaningful recognition.
-
Yearly RES By senders - this score tells you the percentage of your active users that have participated in your programs by sending at least one recognition over the course of a rolling calendar year.
- Best practice suggests this number be anywhere from 60-100% by the end of the calendar year, depending on what type of programs you have.
-
Quarterly RES By recipients - this score tells you about the reach of your program(s) over the course of a rolling quarter. This is a great indicator for reporting on inclusion in recognition on a quarterly basis, and the metric we recommend paying most attention to when considering how your programs are going over time.
- Best practice suggests this number is between 80-100% by the end of the quarter if you have peer-to-peer recognition programs, and close to 50-60% if you have more formal programs, such as a quarterly nomination program.
-
Quarterly RES By senders - this score tells you the percentage of your active users that have participated in your programs by sending at least one recognition over the course of a rolling quarter.
- Best practice suggests this number be anywhere from 50-60% by the end of the quarter, but ideally it's higher if your programs are well-communicated. We recommend paying special attention to this metric to have a good understanding of how many unique users are promoting a recognition culture by sending it on a quarterly basis.
- Best practice suggests this number be anywhere from 50-60% by the end of the quarter, but ideally it's higher if your programs are well-communicated. We recommend paying special attention to this metric to have a good understanding of how many unique users are promoting a recognition culture by sending it on a quarterly basis.
- Last but not least, viewing the Monthly RES By recipients will tell you about the reach of your program(s) over the course of a rolling month. This is a great indicator for reporting on inclusion in recognition on a monthly basis. Because the nature of recognition programs and strategies vary, this number is a less reliable indicator of inclusion, but still a good way to keep tabs on the reach of your programs month-to-month.
- Viewing the Monthly RES By senders will tell you the percentage of your active users that have participated in your programs by sending at least one recognition over the course of a rolling month. Again, not the best indicator for overall participation in programs, but this number will tell you the unique percentage of your most active users.
Checking Adoption Rates as a Company Admin
After launching Recognize at your company, it's especially important to keep an eye on the adoption rate to ensure users are getting in to the platform and building up a culture of recognition. To check adoption rates for your company:
- After logging in to Recognize, select 'Menu' from the upper right-hand corner of your screen
- Select 'Company Admin' from the drop-down menu
- You will land on the Company Admin Dashboard page
- From here, select 'RES' from the top right menu
- Your Yearly RES By sender should be indicative of your adoption rate for the platform, as it will show you how many unique users have gone in to Recognize and sent at least one recognition within the first year of your launch
NOTE: If you've set quarterly and monthly goals, you'll also want to view your Quarterly RES By sender and Monthly RES By sender numbers as well to make sure you hit your target goals.
