Recognize now has the capability to integrate with Slack! With this exciting integration, users will be able to send recognition from within a Slack workspace using a /recognize command, as well as comment on and react to recognition others have received.
There are 3 ways to get started with Slack and Recognize:
- Connect your Slack Workspace to your existing Recognize account
- Install Recognize into your Slack Workspace from Recognize
- Install Recognize into your Slack Workspace from Slack

How to Connect Your Slack Workspace to your existing Recognize account
If you already have a company Recognize account, you'll just need to connect your Slack workspace to Recognize. To do this:
- Select 'Menu' in the upper right-hand corner of your screen
- Select 'Company Admin' from the drop-down menu
- Select 'Settings' in the left side menu
- Select 'Slack' in the right side navigation pane
- Click the 'Connect Slack' button to connect a Slack workspace to your company's Recognize account
- This will take you to a page to specifically allow permission for Recognize to access your Slack workspace, and you'll select the 'Allow' button
NOTE: You should receive a green text box that indicates your integration was set up successfully.
- From the Company Admin settings page, you can also choose whether to 'Allow signing in via Slack' by toggling this setting ON/OFF
Install Recognize into your Slack Workspace from Recognize
To add the app from our website:
- Go to recognizeapp.com to begin (sign out of your Recognize account, if you are signed in)
- Select 'Integrations' from the top right nav bar
- Select 'Slack' from the list of integrations
- Select the 'Add to Slack' button in the middle of the page
- To select a specific Slack workspace, use the drop-down in the upper right-hand corner
- Select the 'Allow' button to allow Recognize to access the Slack Workspace
- You will receive a green pop up message that the Slack integration has been set up successfully
- To complete the process, you'll sign in to Slack, either on this page by clicking on 'Sign in with Slack' or directly in Slack
Install Recognize into your Slack Workspace from Slack
You should also have the option to search and add the Recognize app from within your Slack workspace.
From your desktop browser, go to URL: https://recognizeapp.slack.com/apps/A05DMJM9Z71-recognize?tab=more_info
Alternatively, you can add straight from your Slack app.
- Open your Slack workspace and scroll down to 'Apps' on the left side pane
- Select the 'plus sign' to add a new app

Search for Recognize in the search bar and select the Recognize App from the search results

- Once the app is configured, you'll receive a DM
How to Send Recognition in Slack
Once the integration has been set up, users will be able to send recognition with a '/ command', as well as comment on and react to recognition their peers are receiving, all within the Slack workspace. To send recognition on Slack:
- Start typing in the slash command: /recognize within the message box
- Select the 'recognize' action that pops up OR hit enter once it's highlighted to complete entering the command in the text box
- Once the command is in the text box, you will need to submit it by hitting 'enter' or clicking the send button arrow
- You'll then see a pop-up, and you'll select a Badge to send from the top drop-down
- Next, select a user to recognize by typing in, and then clicking on the name of the user that pops up
- Then, write your recognition message in the 'Message' text box
- You can optionally add Tags to your recognition in the 'Tags' box
- Last, you'll want to select the Slack channel in which to post the recognition - your company may have a designated channel for recognition, so be sure to check that before posting
- To submit the recognition, click the 'Recognize' button in the bottom right-hand corner
- You can view the recognition, and team members can react within Slack or use the jump-to link to open the recognition within Recognize web (where it is simultaneously posted) to comment
