Objective
The objective of this exercise is to align your company's values with your business goals, in order to create a clear and focused direction for the organization, and to prepare you for building a scalable employee recognition program.
Materials
- Whiteboard or flipchart
- Markers
- Sticky notes
Instructions
- Start by writing down the company's values on the whiteboard or flipchart.
- Then, write down the company's business goals on separate sticky notes.
- Ask your team to discuss and brainstorm how each business goal can be aligned with the company's values.
- Have the group stick the business goals under the value it most aligns with, and then have them prioritize the business goals based on how well they align with that value.
- Once the goals are prioritized, ask the group to discuss how they see the company and employees working towards achieving each goal while still staying true to the company's values.
- Finally, write down some specific behaviors and actions that come to mind and save them for later when you begin to write your recognition criteria.
By aligning a company's values with its business goals, the organization can create a clear direction that is focused on achieving success while also staying true to its core beliefs and values. This exercise can help to ensure that everyone in the organization is working towards the same goals, and that those goals are in line with the company's values. It can also make things easier when building out your employee recognition program so that you can make sure you are recognizing employees for the right things - the things that link back to your business goals and reflect your core values.
